Door Peninsula Time

Sunrise_MinnesotaShoreAfter almost 12 years in Door County I have found things to move at a much slower pace, especially when you need stuff done.

Over a year ago I contacted a couple of companies to come out and do some needed plumbing work on our leaky outside facet. Well, needless to sa,y no one ever called me back, even to this day over a year later!

My husband was able to contact someone else – who happens to be a new neighbor up the road. The nice thing is they called me back the next day. I now have a new plumber that WILL return my calls.

I will NOT call the other companies that I did for my future needs even though one of them have been previously out at my house for other plumbing issues.

Door County is a tourist area and full time jobs are hard to come by. One would think if you got the chance for work you would take it by calling people back.

What’s with that?

Vomiting

I think this is totally mind blowing …

My husband, after two combat tours in Southeast and Southwest Asia, my LOML (Love of My Life), and patient editor, cannot deal with vomit and vomiting without getting sick to his stomach.

This is a man who has seen the horrors of war, but cannot deal with cat hairballs and cleaning up vomit.

Be it a cat up-chucking a hairball or a dog getting sick, he just can’t deal with it.

I find this funny at times, cuz, after all he has been through in the military, one would think that puke would be no big deal.

Well, wrong!

Despite his sensitivity, he will still clean up after our critters. So, thanks, Honey, for your help.

But, I guess, we all have our triggers.

What’s with that?

Commercials

The other night, while sitting in our living room talking during the TV commercials as usual, my son and I were talking during a commercial for insurance. The next thing I heard from my son was ”As opposed to FAKE?” It took me a moment to realize what he was saying. The commercial for insurance was claiming to be. “REAL” insurance! Hence his comment!

Makes sense to me.

Come on…. if there is “REAL” insurance does that mean the there is “FAKE” insurance?

What’s with that?
